Lily the Hammer

April 4, 2015 by Scooter in the Sticks 14 Comments

11 week old Belgian Sheepdog puppy

Haven’t posted much lately.  Illness, work and this little dog are responsible.  Meet Lily the Hammer, an 11 week old Belgian Sheepdog puppy, niece of Junior, and newest member of the family.  Lily hails from Bartonville, Illinois and arrived here at the end of a 1400 mile journey.

So while things sort out on the home front the Vespa will probably sit idle.  And it’s been so warm…

Junior and Lily are getting along famously. I think she’s fast becoming the boss of Junior.

Lot’s of things going on right now that have kept me distant from riding. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and do what you need to do…

No doubt a darling, new member of your family, Steve. Congratulations.

Any significance with Lillehammer, Norway? (I hope I’m not missing something embarrassingly obvious.)

Her official American Kennel Club name is Kennaree’s Lily the Hammer. As to the origin of the name, here’s how it goes:

      1. Junior is her uncle, hence Uncle Junior.

      2. Uncle Junior is a character on The Sopranos.

      3. Steven Van Zandt plays Silvio Dante on the Sopranos.

      4. Van Zandt also plays the lead on the Norwegian TV show, “Lilyhammer”, an intentional mispelling of the city Lillehammer.

So that’s how Lily’s name came to pass — all the mindchild of my wife Kim. She also came up with the name “Scooter in the Sticks”.

Wow! Those are quite the etymological contortio-lingui-gymnastics…

On the surface, “Scooter in the Sticks” seems elegantly simple (or is it simply elegant?), but now I get the impression there’s more to it.

Oh my Lily is super cute! Ah the puppy days, much like human baby days and toddler days. I hope she is easy to train and learns quickly! She sure is a cutie patootie.

Lily is really smart. Training going well and aside for her bladder limitations we have no complaints.
