I made this photograph a few days ago with my iPhone while walking with the dogs at sunrise. For the past week, work and other activities have kept the Vespa mostly at home save for a handful of errands and a single ride to work.
Like riding the scooter, I find myself choosing walks that allow me to move toward the heart of the sunrise. On the road the dazzling light impairs vision often requiring a hand up in front of the rising sun. While walking eyes are down or look off to the left or right. But I don’t turn away.
There’s a magical energy at sunrise — at least that’s what I tell myself. A slow heating and rise in energy, a stronger stride, a taller stance, and the dogs run wildly around me in what I can only believe is a common celebration of a new day.
So I haven’t been riding as much lately.
Life is still sweet.

Thanks Brent. Things just keep coming up that I feel I want to write down. Glad from time to time they resonate with others.
Snowing yet in Canada?

The ancient Celts/Britons had a belief that there was a mystical energy just around and after sunset and just around and before sunrise when the spirit world and the physical world touched. I can see how they would have thought such a thing.

I’ve looked at a lot of photos of Ireland and Scotland and I so want to visit. I sense something in those scenes but want to experience it for myself. On my list of things to do before I expire…

In spite of the time of year, it looks like another hot day based on the sunshine and cloud free sky. Nice photo.

It was actually a bit chilly. Had my hooded sweatshirt on — in the mid-50s or so. But the temperature quickly rises and it feels like summer again. But those chilly mornings signal something ahead.

I like the sun in Winter, always makes one feel warmer even when the landscape is snow-covered.
Steve Williams says
Definitely. I’ve ridden many times in freezing weather under gloomy skies and it’s cold — even when you stop. But at the same temperature with clear skies and sunshine it feels warm out.
