Despite the cold it was good to get out for a ride this afternoon. I don’t watch enough sunsets; my life can be filled with chores and tasks. On this ride I stopped to smell the roses.
An hour earlier I stopped for another reason — to search for a view of a local landmark. I rode the 2005 BMW F650 GS I had on loan from Kissell Motorsports up a winding, muddy path through a small patch of woods and stopped as it led into an expansive hayfield. Less than a minute after arriving the farmer who owned the property sped towards me on an ATV with a look of displeasure on his face.
After an apology for trespassing and explaining what I was doing we determined that I had photographed him before. Back in 1984. He said he still has the picture of he and his dog in his home. Just one of the serendipitous moments on the road.
I really like the first photo! And interesting account of the meeting with the farmer. Did you take the photo for him in 1984 or did he just find it somehow?
I rode my ’07 650 GS on Sunday as well. 🙂
Oh, this one looks exactly like my previous one… now I miss it badly. It is a great bike indeed.

Yesterday, the setting sun bounced a beam off the Freznel lens of the Cape May lighthouse, shooting it straight through my Martini… And I thought of you.
I liked the second picture better than the first… But I must agree with you about the soft light at Thr end of the day. I do hope our paths cross on a ride out by you one day next spring.

Twisted Roads
RichardM: The farmer was one of the subjects in a project I was part of with another photographer. Actually, I think the other photographer did the one of him and his dog.
One of the pictures used to be in the lobby of our building as part of a big wall mounted collage.
Barron: It’s a great motorcycle!
SonjaM: I’m still waiting for a motorcycle. I’ve yet to exhaust my enthusiasm for the Vespa. Maybe someday though…

I’m still working on getting a picture of one of those mystical K bikes. With a rider drinking martinis…

I remember the time that I was on First Nations Land (Indian Reservation) and I noticed a nice photo op in the back yard of a dilaphidated house. I knew I should be “trespassing” but I parked my car in the middle of the road with the engine running, just in case . . . and I snuck up to the house and JUST THEN, the owner came out from around the back and asked, “What are you doing . . . ?”.
I wasn’t sure what to do, RUN fast or stand my ground and talk . . .

The beauty of the 650 is that it opens all kinds of new terrains for you, go ahead and get it, maybe we can do an adventure off road together in your neck of the woods 🙂
