A Vespa in Fog is Good Medicine
Great medicine actually.
A fine foggy morning for a first Vespa ride of 2017. After nearly a month or non-riding living it did the soul well to be moving through the world on two wheels. And the body did not whine or complain for the duration of this short, gentle ride. At 37F the cold isn’t a concern. And more importantly my back didn’t utter a word of concern.
Didn’t go far in terms of miles but it was a big journey in terms of future capacity to spend time on the Vespa. The plan is to inch my way back to more extended time on the road and allow time to build some riding “muscle” again. There’s still a couple more months of potentially frigid and snowy riding that could interfere but hopefully some openings.
Haven’t put the winter tires on the scooter yet nor the Tucano Urbano mitts to keep the icy wind off my hands. Lot’s to do but not feeling much pressure to do anything in a hurry.

Get back into it at your own pace. Glad you had a pain-free ride!

Easy does it…

Really glad you were able to get back out there! This blog and your pics were a large part of what inspired me year to get a Vespa, get riding, and go out and re-view my world via two wheels.

It’s feels good to be back on the road, if only for “little” rides. Congratulations on your acquisition of a Vespa scooter. I hope you find it as satisfying as I have. Be safe and enjoy the view!

Glad to see you back out.
Steve Williams says
Thanks Mike. Nice to be able to experience the road on two wheels.

Wow – this is great news. And yes, a little bit at a time is the way to go. I was riding a bit in the fog last night, on a short hop to visit someone. Other than dealing with the visor fogging up a bit too much all was fine.

Same fog as here in Southern Ontario, a thin pea soup, enought to be hazardous, however still a quirk of nature to be savoured; photography and fog can be oh so mysterious and different. And a return to riding, carefully so to not jdisturb the equilibrium of healing of one’s back. Easy does it Steve, you’re in the saddle of your restored Vespa, all is right with your world…
Steve Williams says
Indeed — all does seem right with the world at the moment. Could just be the fog…

It seems like you may have found a good solution at least for the short term with your back. Nice to see photos of the Vespa in the fog though there seems to be too many trees. (More than one)
Steve Williams says
I can’t always find that solitary tree…

Perhaps Steve, as water is to Aquaman and our yellow sun is to a son of Krypton….fog restores and empowers your riding mojo! 🙂
Steve Williams says
Hah. Maybe! Funny how the first foggy day coincided with the first ride…

Glad you could make it out. It was warmish here in Wisconsin and I was visiting my mother on the farm, where I’m storing my LX150 for the winter. Very nearly took it out, except that the gravel is soggy and mushy and would get messy just getting it to the road. Flimsy excuse, but I had projects waiting. Would have been good therapy….

It’s difficult sometimes to not go for a ride. I hate those times where I’m torn. Much prefer just riding or not riding.
