I watched this video again and just shake my head as what people do on the road. Guts, skill or insanity?
What do you think of a superbike riding through and against traffic like Trinity did in the second Matrix movie? Whatever it is it’s one insane motorcycle ride.
Life on the Vespa just seems pretty boring in comparison…

I’m not a fan of theme park rides nor superbikes. I’m also an RYA Yachtmaster sailor, and have sailed across the whole Mediterranean from France. So, cruising around by scooter on the road suits my temperament perfectly. I find it thrilling and exhilarating… not in the least boring.
Steve Williams says
I’ve compared riding a Vespa to sailing more than a few times and like you the scooter riding I do suits my temperament. The last time I sailed was a blue water trip with two friends from Norfolk, Virginia to Peake’s Island, Maine. A week on the ocean with some real changes in weather — not unlike the changes I experience on the scooter in winter.
So slow and steady and you said it — thrilling and exhilarating!
Sandy says
There are ways to be thrilling on any size bike or scoot. The riding in this vid is one intersection short of disaster. It is not nice thrilling, like the buzz coming from setting yourself up to corner well & executing in a way that does not put other road-users at risk. The riding above is terrifying but would be less so on a track.
Steve Williams says
You’re observations are spot on. And this rider definitely put themselves and others at risk. That’s not good.
Someday I’m going to get on a track and see what that’s like.
Sandy says
I’d feel smug competing against the clock knowing there’s a thermos and sandwiches under my seat.

documented stupidity…..
Steve Williams says
Yep!
Mike, GTS 300 says
There is a very thin line between bravery & stupidity, between life & death.

And then we wonder why the non-rider sees anyone on two wheels as an idiot! I cringe when someone calls me a “biker”. I am a scooterist…
Steve Williams says
Indeed, it is exactly this kind of stuff that perpetuates the irrational reactions of non-riders to motorcycles in general. I suppose an argument can be made that I’m not helping out by posting the video. I’ll have to think about that a bit…
