After a few spring-like days the snow and ice returned during the night. Despite the best attempts of the road crews they couldn’t get the roads clear enough for me to decide to ride the Vespa to work. I’ve ridden on this sort of stuff before but not today. By noon the roads were wet.
My Dog Junior.
This morning in the garden after a hearty breakfast of Native, Level 3, dog food for the athletic canine. He was ready to roll after I fumbled a bit with the iPhone. This image was processed with the Instagram app.
NOTE: I’m still uncertain about posting the Daily Rider and My Dog Junior pictures everyday on the blog. I may do it but on the same page so it just is an additive process with a link in the navigation. But for now I will follow the advice of my blogging muse Mr. Conch and my spiritual and moral guide Mr. Riepe.

I’m enjoying this series, and would prefer to see it on the main blog if possible (as I read via RSS).

I agree that having it on the main blog isn’t an issue to me either. Seeing what can be done with an camera phone is interesting.

This isn’t the main blog? How many blogs does this man have?
Jack Riepe says
Dear Steve:
I just went to the usual link and now I discover it is not the usual link. What the hell?
Fondest regards,
Jack

Being a New Media/Web design guy (at least according to the piece of paper the University of Washington gave me after attending evening classes for the better part of a year), I would like to offer a few thoughts:
* Love the new theme! The shades of warm gray are complimented nicely by the links’ and headlines’ orange. Nice new masthead, too. If Blogger offers you the capability, having it shuffle images would work; as long as ‘Scooter in the Sticks’ is in that same typeface, it gets the point across.
* Nothing wrong with posting daily, for whatever reason. The only reason I don’t do it is because I don’t have enough to write about, in no small part because I don’t currently have enough juice to get free stuff from manufacturers. Among other reasons.
* I think Junior’s ready for prime time—he should get his own blog. Lots of pets have blogs; lots of Americans fetishize their pets. Seattleites in particular would project all kinds of things onto him. And it would be easy—a picture or two, and a paragraph of explanation, if necessary, per post. That ‘do I get a cookie now?’ look would just bowl people over. You could probably generate a revenue stream from “Doggie in the Sticks” or whatever you decide to call it.
FWIW,

trying to ride everyday is tough. This morning I went out the front door to check how it looked and almost slipped on the front step. Of course, the roads turned out to be fine and it was a pretty nice day…
Better than putting it down in a corner.

Stacy: Never fear, I’ll keep posting them on the blog so you’ll see them in your feed. I am going to consolidate them into one weekly post though. Otherwise the blog will get too busy for my taste.
RichardM: The camera phones are amazing and I am going to put the iPhone through its paces. At least that’s my plan…
Steve Williams says
Conchscooter: This is the main blog. The only blog. Well, I have a test blog that I use to test things out once in awhile but don’t post anything there.
So just keep coming back.
Steve Williams says
Mr. Riepe: Things change. I picked a new Blogger template. I was tired of the old blue site. But all the content is here. Really. You’ll be ok. Go down to the garage and sit on the K bike for awhile. You’ll feel better.
Steve Williams says
Orin: Glad you like the new graphic theme. It was the simplest one I could find. Guess that’s why it’s titled “Simple template”.
I’ve looked for the feature to swap the banner image on reload but that doesn’t appear to be an option. I’ll explore further.
And I hesitate to post the short content frequently because the longer stories would quickly disappear from view I fear. So I am going to consolidate them weekly on the blog and let those who want them daily get them via Twitter. (I wrote that just to piss off Conchscooter)
Right now the thought of having to maintain a separate blog for Junior just is too much to think about. I would rather integrate him here. And if I ever get a sidecar—watchout!
But that could change too.
Thanks so much for your kind words and advice. I really appreciate them.
Steve Williams says
bobskoot: The old blue blog style is gone. Replaced with the clean gray one. So this is the main blog. Nothing is hiding.
And I’m with you. The daily posts seem overwhelming to me. Not to produce but to view.
