Friday afternoon on my way to retrieve Junior from Sporty Dog Daycare I see a scooter pass by.

The snow was just beginning to fall and for a moment I regretted not being on the Vespa.

With a face like this waiting the regrets melt. And the snow was piling up fast. I can ride another day..

Junior is one fine looking dog Steve. I agree, dogs have a way of melting away the feelings we don’t need.
It’s really interesting to read that I’m not alone with this guilt/envy feeling every time I see someone on a scoot when I’m not!
You’re right though there’s always another day!
I’m guessing Junior might also have had a few caged regrets after being in daycare for the day.
He looks really pleased to see you -:)
Dear SITS (Steve):
While the time alloted to each of us is finite, there is more than one occasion where we are compelled to witness an activity in progress and say, “Later.”
Myself, I miss riding — but not on roads covered with grit and salt, requiring a vigorous wash down for the machine after even a short forray.
Your dog smiles a lot.
Fondest regards,

Steve, Thank You for the very timely reminder, at the end of your Dog narrative, that when ..”the snow is piling up, … I CAN RIDE ANOTHER DAY.” I’ve managed to ride every day in December, all but one day in January, and since Feb.1st … some days I venture farther than others, … But I haven’t “dumped it”, YET!
Children and pets, they will melt us every time!
Weirdly enough, you’ve inspired a blog post. Got me thinking again, dang you!
The question is where the regret springs from. People like you are wiser than warriors like me!
You and your blog have won the Honest Scrap Award;

Please pay it forward.
Ride on,

Mike: Junior is the best looking dog I have ever had. Wait a minute. I have said that about every dog I have ever had.
SkuterHijau: When I see someone riding and I’m not it just feels as if I am letting some amazing opportunity slip by…
Chuck: Junior is always thrilled to see me. Good for my ego. But he loves playing with all the dogs at doggy daycare. He’s just beat when we get home.
We are going to a training class there in the evening and at one point we had to crate the dogs. I opened the door and he just raced in. “What’s up with that?” I asked someone who worked there.
“When we crate them for their afternoon nap we give them chicken.”
Junior never told me about the chicken. No wonder he likes the place.
Dear Mr. Riepe: What’s this about a vigorous washdown? I have not washing my scooter in almost a year.
I thought BMW riders prided themselves on filthy bikes? Or was that minds??
Enlighten me.
Bob: This is the first winter since I have started riding again that I have chosen not to ride more often that ride. I know most of the decisions have been driven by the dog or work but I still decide to drive on days where I could ride.
I must be maturing.
Sojourner rides: Dogs and riding are similar in that they both must be experienced to appreciate and they both require a lot of training to do right.
irondad: (I almost spelled that ironnad) You always have great topics on your blog and you seem to find inspiration everywhere you go. I look forward to your posts.
Torch: Thanks for the nomination. Now the ball’s in my court. I’ll have to think about accepting. My indolence and sloth usually keep me from doing anything at all like this.
That’s ok, Steve. I often almost type “Dam” when I mean to type Dan!
