3 Prints Project — February 3, 2008

February 3, 2008 by Scooter in the Sticks 8 Comments

Another week has passed and I managed to shoot two more rolls and make prints. It is becoming easier to get myself into the darkroom and exposing the film is becoming more transparent in my life. It definitely helps that I carry my Leica M6 with me everywhere.

Here are the pictures…

Steve, I’ve said before, you have a great eye. But this … this is a nice treat. B&W film in a digital world. Keep ’em coming.

Black and White pictures “Wow” that is a treat. I still like black and white photography – goes back as when I was into B&W using my Canon AV-1 camera (brand new and just came out)..pure delight. On riding scooter I often hang my digital EOS around my neck but that becomes very uncomfortable. I find using a camera like the size of a G9 much easier to handle and to take pictures. I guess its time for me to dust off my old cameras and buy some B&W film. Off the saddle can be very rewarding when playing for a picture scene.
Now to the coffee shop and go into some deep thoughts on the matter.

Brent: Working with film in the camera and in the darkroom is a satisfying experience especially weighed against the digital processes I find myself engaged in on a near daily basis.

It has been a treat for me as well.

phil: I only occasionally ride with a camera around my neck. It does get uncomfortable. And a G9 in my pocket works but I still have to de-glove to get to the thing.

Black and white film is the same deal, same time to shoot, but I don’t get that instant feedback of digital. I have to go through all the magical processes to see what I get. I still get excited looking at wet negatives for the first time…

You really got that barn and tree shot right – rural, stark, winter. Brrr made me shiver!

great, as I expected, by the way.
I really would like to have a closet to process film. My girlfriend has it, but she lives 100 miles from me, and until we go and live together I have to wait once every two weeks to get my hands on rodinal, tanks, ilford rapid fixer and *fun* ! 😉
what kind of film are you currently using? I’m an Ilford lover but cannot stop opening my eyes wide in front of some Kodak exposures… I simply don’t like their policy but they make good film indeed…

First off, I’m jealous. Nice camera! I’d like to pick up an old M3 or M4 as that’s all I can afford.

    Love the coffee cup!

A Holga may be fun to keep in your glove box.

I shoot with a Bronica S2A and many vintage 35mm, because I like how the prints turn out. I agree the dark room is a wonderful place. This is a hobby of mine. I am not professional.

    Care to see a scooter in a different way . . .

Have you read Vespa Vagabond’s blog? She is a professional photographer that took a 2 month scoot ride across the USA.
