I only have so much time and attention in a day. As I get older it becomes easier to see how my choices can waste them. Shooting two rolls of film each week, 72 exposures, on top of everything else I do demands I take my camera with me everywhere. To work, on dog walks, to the bank, to bed. Most people you see on a daily basis don’t have a camera hanging around their neck. Most people aren’t riding a Vespa in the winter. But I bet most people wish they could do more.
Perhaps shooting these pictures is a concerned attempt on my part to not squander the time I have. To do more.
So here they are.

Steve: I really appreciate the photos. I am enjoying your eye, and your technical mastery. Please keep them coming. I know they are not for us, but I appreciate your sharing.

We would be hard pressed to choose a favorite from these 3. They are all wonderful and each one so different. So happy you are doing this.

I’m curious about the picture shooting helping you to not squander time. Do you feel it helps you have a focus? No pun intended, by the way. Does it help you keep perspective?
Pvino says
I enjoy riding with my scooter with my Canon EOS strapped across my shoulders. For some enjoying the ride and for myself – ride plus pictures so I can appreciate the ride even more. Thank you for sharing the pictures.
Steve Williams says
dave gray: Posting the pictures here is a necessary carrot to keep me working. On second thought it is probably a stick.
heinz & frenchie: Thanks! I am having a good time.
irondad: The project keeps me focused and out of my head. If I sit around and think about all the things I should do I don’t do much. “Should” is a word that doesn’t help me much.
Shooting, like writing, allows me to see past the noise and negative thinking that seems to make up much of my default personality.
Does that make sense?
pvino: I really wish I had more time to make photos while riding. I always feel as if I am in a rush. Or it may just be the natural collision of two passionate drives that really are quite different.
I am glad you are enjoying the pictures and I plan to keep making them for now.

Steve,
I know about the noise and negative thinking. I spend so much time on the roads with other traffic. One day recently I realized that most of my thoughts were centered on how bad the rest of the drivers were. It was quite draining mentally. Now I purposely focus on other, more positive, things.
