Countdown to the Photo ExhibitionIt takes more time and energy than I remembered to get a photography show ready. That works takes away from riding and subsequently writing blog posts. I haven’t had an unfortunate accident. I am nearly ready to hang the show.
The yard sign in the photo above stands in front of the house to allow any interested neighbors passing by a chance to think about seeing the show.
In the meantime, I’m beat and going to sleep. In six days I’ll be hauling all the photographs to the gallery to do the installation.
So tired…
The heat was hot and the ground was dry.
Not sure why that lyric from America’s Horse with No Name floated through my brain as I sat down to write this post. Perhaps it was the heat of the past two days. Or the humid air flowing in the windows as the clock leans toward 2am. Regardless the reason, one thing’s for sure — riding when the thermometer eclipses 90F is unpleasant. For me.
And now I remember fondly a misty morning ride of a week ago. Nothing quite as pleasant as riding in rain during summer.
Morning RainAn early appointment at Kissell Motorsports to have the rear brake pads replaced on the Vespa scooter had me on the road in a light rain with the temperature in the low 60s. Rain all night had cleared the roads of the oil and grease that seems to accumulate in summer which makes traction a bit more positive. Not that my laid-back riding style or the lightly traveled routes face challenges from the rain. Mostly there’s a flowing movie of misty landscapes that feed my imagination and create adventure in my head.Continue Reading
PromotionThe clock is ticking. Only 35 days until I hang my photography show at the Art Alliance Gallery Downtown. Time is slipping away and there’s still much to do. Finished a batch of show announcements today and started to place them around town. The stack in the photo was at the Pump Station Cafe. Plan to distribute more tomorrow.
By mid-afternoon I should have the first batch of enlargements in hand. Fingers crossed that the printing is acceptable. Everything is coming together in my head. The physical reality of putting together a photography show is not far behind.Continue Reading
Boalsburg Moto HangAt 3am my mind wanders. Should be sleeping. A rise for a drink of what has the brain turning again and creating a mental checklist of things to do and others to avoid. The joys of thoughts in the middle of the night. Today is the Boalsburg Moto Hang — this episode being hosted by Kissell Motorsports in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. Rode down there yesterday. Suppose another ride today makes sense.
