Breakfast Ride

February 15, 2006 by Scooter in the Sticks 2 Comments

Some mornings everything in the universe aligns and the day is perfect. The temperature at 7AM was 38F and rising, the sun was out, and I was going to ride the scooter to a local restaurant to have breakfast with my friend Howard.

Riding in I could see the warm glow of sunlight across the empty cornfields and along the ridgetops. This was one of those days I wished I could just keep riding and skip work. Such is not to be and I had to go to the office after breakfast and get “busy”.

The Vespa awaits my return.

I make that comment sometimes. There are days I go to lunch on the bike and tell folks they will be lucky if I come back. My life credo is “Not all who wander are lost”. I think we need that.

    Take care,

    Dan,

Riding makes it possible to “disconnect” from the rat race. It is so easy to get consumed in the importance of everything at work that I forget what is really important sometimes. I like to think of myself as a critical component to things at at times I am but most of the time I just need to be reminded to take time to wander.

I agree 100%, all that wander are not lost.
