Ride to Vote

November 3, 2008 by Scooter in the Sticks 4 Comments

The 2008 Presidential Election is almost here. John McCain and Barack Obama have been campaigning for nearly two years in hopes of becoming the 44th President of the United States. Our economy is struggling and turmoil grows around the planet. Our next president will have their hands full from the moment they step into the Oval Office. McCain and Obama have been doing their part. Now it is time for us to do ours and vote.

Voting is a part of our collective responsibility as citizens and I urge you embrace it on November 4th. Regardless of your political viewpoint or interests it is important for all our elected officials to know that they have us, the voters, to deal with.

And Election Day offers riders an opportunity to speak out as well by riding to your polling places and voting, gear and all, as citizen riders. The Ride to Work organization is asking riders across the country to show their neighbors the existence, value, and utility of riding as a form of transportation. Check out the Ride to Vote site for more information.

Safe riding!

I think in Canada we are getting election’d out, no . . . we’re not in withdrawl yet. We just went through our National election process and elected a NEW prime minister last month (and he looks the same as our old prime minister). Our Civic Elections for the City of Vancouver is going to be held on November 15th (less than 2 weeks from now), and we are having our Provincial Election next spring to elect our new Premier (for the Province of BC), so if you count the US election between Obama and McCain then we hope all this election fever will go away. So even though we will not be voting with you tomorrow, be assured that we can still Ride to Work and vote with you in spirit, and as Steve said, “VOTE”

Send in my vote and riding my scooter by the polling places represent a direction of going “Green”. I get waves of support, yes I am just a scooterist on a small scooter – what a great idea I hope it picks up. Besides there no place to park if you drive your car.

I pedalled to my polling place. Nice to vote and have it go your way for a change!

We are happy that the election is finally over…so much money spent that could go to a better cause. We are also happy for Obama, but would like to think he could have done it a little cheaper. Presidential elections are out of control spending machines in our country. We agree that everyone should vote, but at what cost? Anyone tallied the cost per voter for this election? We are sure someone is doing it. Fess Up.
