I continue to be surprised at the breadth and weight of things that occur on a daily basis that throw me off balance. A story I read in the newspaper, a comment read on a website, or the irrational machinations of my imagination that gnaws on a wide range of dystopian possibilities.
There are tools that help in restoring balance. Meditation. Journaling. Walking. Reading. Sitting with my wife. Talking with a friend.
And of course, riding. Restoring balance with an evening Vespa ride is almost like magic.
I share this video in hopes it will remind you of the power that machine may have in your life.
Shane Hartley says
That took weight off my shoulders!!! Lovely. Thank you.
Steve Williams says
Thank you Shane. Glad to help1
Keith Talbot says
That was delightfully therapeutic, Steve.
Safe roads my friend.
Steve Williams says
Riding continues to be therapeutic for me Keith.

Just what I needed this morning.
Steve Williams says
Sometimes I wish I could ride every morning!
Lostboater says
Wow, a perfect Vespa commercial. Very simple, very elegant.
Thank you
Steve Williams says
It’s funny Ken, but in my mind, I imagine big, complicated productions. When I sit down to edit I end up with something short and focused on a single idea.
I was talking while recording but when listening to the clips I realized I had nothing worth listening to. So I ditched the audio. I don’t have the gift of talking while riding.
Doug Sandmeyer says
Thanks Steve, just what I needed and as usual great camera work.
Doug
Steve Williams says
Thank you Doug. I need more practice but I’m getting there.
Kathy Hickok says
Priceless. Thank you.
Steve Williams says
I appreciate your support.

My first Pennsylvania ride since June 2019! In fact my Avatar pic was taken in NC as I headed east then north towards home in Ontario passing through your part of the World. Thanks Steve 👍
Steve Williams says
Someday things will return to some sense of normal and that kind of travel will be possible once again. Until then, I’ll post some Pennsylvania rides.

Thank you.Magical! And not a car in sight.Peace and safety from NH.
Steve Williams says
Traffic was definitely light. I might have seen a dozen cars during a 30 mile loop. And two Amish buggies. But on the backroads nothing.
Karl Stumpf says
I love back road riding with no cars. So relaxing. Thanks for sharing with us YOUR ride.
Steve Williams says
I’m glad to share my little video recollections of my back road rides.
Bruce says
What a beautiful and peaceful ride! Thanks for sharing it!
Steve Williams says
It was a fine, quiet ride Bruce. I’m ready to go again!
Rusty Yeiser says
Loved it! Thanks Steve. And FYI, my younger daughter, Amy (PSU CAS ’12), whom you photographed with me outside her graduation ceremony, is about to deliver her second child (our third grandchild) in Butler PA. Hopefully within the week. I regularly share your Scooter posts with Amy and her big sister, Emily (PSU CAS ’07). Happy spring riding.
Steve Williams says
Congratulations Grandpa! Butler is a couple hours west of here. My parents moved near there when they retired. I traveled that way often at one point.
Time flies doesn’t it. I remember when Emily and Amy were freshman. Give my best wishes to both of them and their family!

Linden Loop, eh? At least part of it. I rode it + a bit more just two days ago, a favorite short local ride. Yup, had the same feelings, smile on face.
Steve Williams says
I went through Linden Hall on the way out and the way home. Rode along Brush Valley Road and Manor Road and on out toward Madisonburg. Would have gone farther but didn’t want to ride home in the dark. I’ll need to leave earlier in the day next time!
Dave Montgomery says
That was a really beautiful video. Thanks for sharing it. Who’s the music by? It’s a nice piano piece.
Steve Williams says
Thank you for your kind words Dave. The music used was from YouTube’s royalty-free Audio Library.
The piece is called Invisible Beauty and was produced by Akash Ghandi.
Shirley Hackman says
Thanks so much! This perfectly re-creates the peace a ride can bring to my soul.
Steve Williams says
I’m glad my intent came through. Riding has a special way of calming the soul.
Mike Evans says
I now have a Honda cb500x because my Vespa dealer closed. Your video projects the way I feel when I’m on my bike when I’ve told my wife ” I’m just going for a ride”. Thank you.
Steve Williams says
Our Vespa dealer is long gone. When the time comes for a replacement I’ll have to work harder to find one.
The power of “just going for a ride” is hard for anyone who doesn’t ride to understand.
David Masse says
If it’s any consolation Steve, I am in the same place as you. A local radio host and her husband announced that they lost their baby, I believe it was in childbirth. It was heart breaking and brought me to tears. I feel fairly often that I just need to cry my heart out. The emotional toll of the pandemic is like a long grind that has a cumulative effect. Hang in there. This too shall pass.
Steve Williams says
I can’t imagine something like that happening in my life. There are so many sad stories on top of the general weirdness in the world that it is no wonder so many people feel so bad. I try to have faith that things will change for the better.
I’ve had both of my Pfizer vaccinations and that has help change things a tiny bit, but mostly the days unfold in the same manner as they have for over a year. As you say, this too will pass.
Don Etheredge says
Net has been down here, beautiful piece Steve, reminded me of a road yes here in Texas i often rode my Honda super 90 on it was a 1968 4 gear marvel. Thanks a million as always for sharing a bit of your rriding world…..Don
Steve Williams says
I think my friend Andy has inherited a Honda Super 90, or maybe it’s a Cub, and hopes to be riding it soon. It’s nice to have pleasant riding memories to fall back on. I’m glad I could help remind you of one.
Floyd Jasinski says
Thanks, Steve. I so needed my SITS “fix.” You are appreciated by more than you may realize.
Floyd
Steve Williams says
I’m glad to help Floyd. Hopefully with warmer weather my winter malaise will lift and I’ll get out on the road more.
Be well!
