Another VLOG Entry
Only four entries into my ten video target to determine if making videos has any utility in my blogging life and I’m behind schedule. My plan was to post every other Monday.
This entry is a quick update on the status of things in my world and a continuing experiment with cameras and microphones as I search for the idea blogging setup for me.
If you like these entries let me know and subscribe in YouTube. I’m not sure why at this point though someone told me it’s important. As I understand it, if I get a million subscribers I can make some money. I think I have to take some of my clothes off though to achieve that number.
Stay safe on the road and in your dealings with the strange new world we’re traveling through now.
RichardM says
I must admit that you are on the road sooner than it had sounded in previous videos.
Steve Williams says
The only reason I may begin to ride again is that our medical system doesn’t seem to be loaded and my fear of the hospital has declined. Other than that, I don’t see myself going to the grocery store or many other places that bring me into contact with other people. On the road, it seems like the twilight zone at times. Where did everyone go?

When I opened Youtube a few hours ago to watch vintage Green Day there you were on page one next to the Foo Fighters. I must subscribe to SITS and it did that.
Steve Williams says
Probably. My homepage shows your stuff when I log in to YouTube.

I so enjoyed your video, Steve. Good to see you. The garden looks beautiful.
Steve Williams says
Hello Mary. Nice to hear from you too.
The garden grows lusher every day. Both Kim and I are on the lookout now for morels. It’s that time.

Hi Steve, I’ve been enjoying the videos, keep them coming. I’ll check out the subscription thing. Glad you found the Helmet of your dreams. I had been tormented by living with XL round helmets on my oval head until I discovered Arai’s long oval. I dropped a size and got a lighter bucket because of the shell size difference.
The weather is getting better hear but the Governor hasn’t given the go ahead yet.

I went on a short ride today wearing the new helmet. The fit is much better. The wind used to move the helmet around on my head. This new one stays in place. And the airflow is much better as well.
Tomorrow, May 8, the stay at home order for our region expires. I’ll have to check the guidelines to determine what exactly moving into the yellow phase means for me.

I understand. Perhaps a ratty old bathrobe? I could be like The Dude from the Big Lebowski.

I finally got to ride the motorcycles the other day. To the inspection station. I heard this morning that Governor Cuomo will be taking his out for a ride this afternoon. I may think up an excuse to drag out the scooter. Maybe a milk run is in order.
Good video Steve.
Steve Williams says
Governor Cuomo is a rider? That’s wild. Can’t imagine him going for a ride now.
But you, on the other hand, a scooter ride for milk sounds perfect.

For naked inspiration – rent the British movie “Waking Ned Devine”. It’s toward the end of the movie and you’ll know the section when you get to it.
Steve Williams says
I’ll check out the movie. My naked experiences outside the house have been rare. And in much younger, fitter days. The more I think about it, the less I think of my plan!

Thanks Steve,
I have subscribed to your Youtube connection, as I would like you to continue….unless it stops being fun for you! I went for my first short ride a few days ago, quiet country paved roads complete with a stop by a river for a sip of the coffee thermos Steve had brought along with a cookie…. simple pleasures. I’ll still mostly be walking while we maintain social distance and continue the stay home efforts. Simply not worth the risk for us all to get too relaxed. My wandering rides will remain few and far between with at most myself and my husband riding together. I found it upsetting when I saw hoards of bikes in larger groups….at a few crossroads we passed, or near a small community ….listened to one small rural mayor in Port Dover ( Ontario,CA)( a summer destination and any Fri. the 13’th) describe her frustration when many, many bikes congregated there on a sunny weekend day… let’s continue to try to be respectful of everyone’s needs….

I apologize for the long delay in responding. It’s funny how a small task can sometimes grow into a mountain seemingly impossible to scale.
So far, making videos has been a satisfying experience though I can’t completely articulate why. Perhaps that understanding will appear over time. Much like my experience with blogging.
Your description of you and Steve with the thermos inspired my own version of that which I’ll post sometime soon. It’s been a long time since I had my Nissan stainless steel thermos along on a ride. It was perfect.
While I’ve not seen hordes of riders or large groups of people gathering here I have noticed a more relaxed tone to life in general. Hopefully, we’ll all make good choices and minimize any future outbreaks. Sadly, for Kim and I, we fall into the high-risk categories due to age and immune system challenges so I suspect social distance and isolation will remain part of our life until some dramatic change in the scope of virus or treatments and vaccines appear.
Best wishes to you and Steve for continued rides with coffee and cookies. The simple things in life have really taken on new meaning.
