I’m one lazy blogger and when I catch up it can often mean a boatload of photos with little text, description or commentary. Such is the case with some images of a Piston and Pints gathering from earlier this month AND images made today at the final moto hang cookout.
Couldn’t resist photographing the tank on this vintage Royal Enfield. How often do you get to see one anymore. The rider, I did have his name written down somewhere along with all the technical details about the bike, rode in from Beford, Pennsylvania, about 90 minutes south. Along with the Enfield he had some other vintage British bikes. Perhaps sometime in the future we’ll have the chance to see them.
Paul Ruby interrogates, I mean interviews the owner of the Enfield…
Another vintage bike — a Harley Davidson that doesn’t rattle your fillings when it goes by.
Early in the evening. Ken Hull’s trials bike in the foreground. Looks uncomfortable for long trips.
A Triumph and a Vespa. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Piston and Pints executive board and think tank members stand aside and ponder deep thoughts.
Always at least one two-stroke machine at the event. The sound reminds me of my youth…
Romance or just jostling for position to admire the Royal Enfield???
Ken Hull leads Mario towards his first ride on a full sized motorcycle (I think).
I should have shot video. The results — Mario was ripping around the yard and then off down the alley. Not sure I saw him return…
I’ll end this group with “a good time was had by all…”
October 26 Moto Hang Party
Hot Italian sausage from Hogs Galore was on the menu today along with a host of other fine foods. Ken is just beginning to get things going…
A lot of pictures, it’s late, I’m tired, so I will just post them here. Visit the Scooter in the Sticks Facebook page if you need to share or tag pictures. I think that’s how it works.

Yea! Great pics.

poppawheelie: Yeah, I guess they’re posted but I really need to learn to edit!

I have a quick, question, Steve – saw the picture of your scooter with the short windshield and was wondering if it has made a difference in your riding, and why did you decide on a short one vs. a midsize or tall one? As you can tell I am thinking about getting one, too, but can’t decide… Thank you!

Wonderful Steve, Wonderful. You’re that much further south than I am, less than an hour’s drive north of the west end of Lake Ontario, snow! Yes the retched white stuff. The last weekend of October is the traditional end of riding season in many places;
obviously you had a great time. And no snow or cold in existence…
You should have brought Junior. eh?

Am admiring your fall piston and pints get togethers. No one gets parking tickets out there in the woods I assume ;0)

Hi Steve. ,
Some wonderful pics there….. I really like the red cafe racer also the red Harley is my type of machine and I’m with you on the smells and sounds of two strokes they do take you back …was that a 350 ypvs with a strange exhaust set up or a more obvious 500 ??
Great share
Regards LEN

Steve:
I also love the sounds of a Vespa P200 2-stroke with all that popping
I also like the first reflection photo of you kneeling. It is a masterpiece of a self portrait.
Too bad my service was too late, and Karen was back at camp. Otherwise we would had made it there to Piston night.

Steve Williams says
Schnarpsel: Sorry for the delay in responding — it has been a hectic week.
The short windscreen does make a difference in the amount of air hitting my chest and how much rain hits me as well. It’s not dramatic but just enough for what I was after.
I know a taller one would offer more protection but I want to feel the wind and I don’t want to have to look through anything.
Steve Williams says
Bryce Lee: So far the weather continues to be relatively mild with only a few mornings with the temperature below freezing for an hour or so. Snow can’t be far off now though and I remember some years we already would have had two or three snow falls.
Piston and Pints is a great event with a lot of good people involved. I just wish I had more time this year to talk to people. Seemed my worklife intruded far too many times…
Steve Williams says
VStar Lady: Ken keeps blocking off the alley and so far no one has complained. One of the advantages of living in a small town…
Steve Williams says
LEN: I can’t remember which model Yamaha that two-stroke racer is. Maybe someone will comment on it.
There have been a lot of bikes at the event that I never got around to photographing. I’m a bad photographer…
Steve Williams says
bob skoot: The two-stroke sound has never grown on me and I have to say I almost find it annoying in a “fingernails on the chalkboard” kind of way.
It may well be I’m mixing that sound with the really annoying all day long leaf blower sounds this time of year.
What happened to rakes???
The self portrait is fun — can’t miss with a built in mirror!
Schnarpsel says
Thank you Steve, this was very helpful!
