There are still a lot of roads we've not explored. The only limitation is time rather than having run out of new places to ride.

I am definitely familiar with the seemingly sudden appearance of a motorcycle too tall and heavy. That was the case with my '92 BMW K75C. I regret parting with it but I knew the time had come. Next time we ride to breakfast let's go to the Family Chill & Grill and then on to Tyrone to visit the two big dealerships there. Maybe something will catch your eye.

Geezerism is definitely waiting for me. All I have to do is get tired, cranky, and start complaining more than desiring to see the world.

I hope at 77 I am following your lead. And that I am still content with the W650 and Himalayan. I look at new machines frequently but nothing I see seems to be better than what I have as riding companions.

Time to get on a bike and search for that mythic cup of coffee. Or for me a cup of tea.

I am certainly blessed with many options for roads and eating establishments. And the further I am willing to ride, the more they pile up.

The Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires are mostly likely what I'll get. Finding tires is tough right now but the Dunlops are readily available. I was seriously considering the Heidenau 60 Scout tires but they've been impossible to find. I'll check again at the end of the summer when I switch tires.

I hope you had a fine breakfast.

You continue to surprise me with new roads, amazing vistas and excellent breakfast places. You didn't even mention that beautiful piece of road we took along Penns Creek. The GS is back in the basement to solve the continuous high beam problem.

More and more I think about something smaller and lighter like your Himalayan. Curiosty and lots of riding help, but I no longer have the strength and stamina for the tall and heavy GS. Maybe our next breakfast ride should include a few motorcycle stealerships.

Steve,
A fine philosophy you have regarding maintaining your curiosity to stave off the decent into geezerism. I still feel nosy about practically everything at soon to be 77. A fine bike your friend has, I owned a ‘90 GS for 24 years and it was a great back road companion. My ‘01 W650 and ‘20 DR650 keep me company now and what great mechanical friends they both are. Any ‘ol excuse to ride off in search of a cup of coffee will do, gotta take the back roads to get there too.
Cheers,

On top of all the wonderful roads, you could choose to ride to a different breakfast joint any ride day of the year! I run the Trail Missions on both my R12GS and the front of my Versys 300X and they’ve been 10/10. A little noisy perhaps and I wouldn’t purposely search out oodles of deep sand or mud but perfect for my sort of off highway excursions. I’ll excuse myself here as the Triumph and I are off to Brekkie
