The joy of seat time. That's it. As long as I am open to experience and whatever limitations I might have, that I put that perfectionist voice away and just take advantage of what is in front of me I have a much better time.

I hope to stay interested in two wheel travel for a long time.

Having spent some time on big BMWs I understand the seduction they offer. Especially for long distance travel. But as soon as the roads get less inviting and the speeds lower they are a lot to manage compared to almost any smaller motorcycle.

I suspect the Honda CT125 will be with me until I stop riding. It's a lot of fun and easily embraces any adventure even if it is only going to the grocery store.

You hit the nail on the head -- small bikes big fun!

The Trail 125 is just an amazing little machine. I'm blessed here with both wonderful dirt and gravel trails along with seemingly endless paved roads that the Honda can easily manage. The Honda CRF300L is definitely on my radar should I want to downsize the Himalayan. It's 128 pounds lighter. A big difference for this old man.

You're pretty much where I am now. I do have a smaller scooter in the ET4. The only other downsizing that could happen in my garage is to abandon the Himalayan for a Honda CRF300L. The Honda, while having a 3 inch higher seat, is 128 pounds lighter. That's a massive difference. Time will tell though.

Hello,
May I say as a rider that started on a Bonanza 4 hp. Mini bike at 12, guess that's always a pondering question, more or less. My first real motorcycle a 1971 Honda 350 cl think I was 15 then.
My thinking now is when I'm thinking what do I need to have the perfect machine for any riding I hop on my scooter and ride and reminded the joy of seat time regardless..B safe all and keep thinking about which one, THAT means we still are intrested in two wheel travel.

I started out with not much in the way of Moto horsepower and was nevertheless seduced. I expect I’ll wind up this two wheeled Moto obsession thing aboard my CT125 and as pleased as punch on it as any of the more powerful machines owned. Slowing down has been a revelation, seeing and feeling so much more. Used to be that one would race about, crunching clicks and covering significant daily distance. These days I’m more than happy with an 8hr 125 mile jam packed with wee bike highlights. I sometimes think I’ve had this measuring thing wrong for decades. Small bikes big fun eh!

Getting my Trail 125 was my downsizing moment. It's perfect in AZ, where I can be on dirt in 10 minutes. But at home in western NY not many trails to ride at all. The Kymco Downtown 300i stays on pavement. I toyed with the idea of a Honda CRF300L, but probably that ship has sailed.
