The ice patches you describe are common here. Particularly after a thaw when melting snow or springs create sometimes huge patches of ice. The only effective way to manage them is to slow down a lot, particularly in curves where you can’t really see far enough ahead.

I will think twice before going out on days below freezing. As you say, extra caution is necessary.

No thanks. Snow in the air I can deal with. Snow on the ground is another story. You’re reminding me though to get my snow blower ready for winter!

I didn’t see another scooter or motorcycle. Not surprising.

Until one opened here in State College I had never seen a Barnes & Noble. Or any bookstore for that matter. I must have lived a sheltered life.

We usually have a some unseasonably warm weather throughout winter now. I’ll take advantage of those days. And I plan to ride today. Seems like the 20s and a dry road are tolerable to me.

Cold rides are invigorating to me. And approached in a thoughtful, methodical manner the cold and risk can be managed. Night riding is behind me now. My night vision isn’t up to the task.

Snow and ice on the road is now going to be a riding boundary I think. I used to ride in that stuff but the risk of injury and a difficult recovery is now more than I am willing to accept.
