I’m not sure if it’s just this part of Pennsylvania, but the drivers seem generally polite. Not sure if it was always that way but I never noticed until I started riding. But I’ll take it.

I’ve had no doctor’s criticize or condemn my riding. Yet. I suspect at some point in my life a suggestion may come that it’s too dangerous. But then, if I’m old enough, why would it matter unless it is putting someone else at risk. Dangerous to others.

The HOG chapters do good work, no doubt. But for all the organizations, no one has wrapped their head around (effectively) how to keep motorcycling from becoming extinct. Doesn’t seem like a lot of new young riders are being minted. I have some thoughts on this that may someday find their way into a post…

Despite being told not to drive for a couple of weeks, after my last pacemaker implant, I rode the Rebel to the follow up a week later. The Doctor asked how I got there so I fibbed and said my daughter brought me. He said, ” You drove, didn’t you?” I said absolutely not. The pacemaker and I are fine.

Some attitudes have changed for the better. I can remember when every single doctor I encountered hated motorcycles said, “You shouldn’t ride because they were dangerous!” Car drivers too have changed – for the most part. Yesterday I rode with a group of about 15 from Kissell’s. Several car drivers stopped and motioned us on so we could enter the highway or pass through an intersection undivided. I think we owe a debt of gratitude to the HOG chapters which exist largely to do charity and PR work, admittedly for HD.
