You’re right about the low sun and blinding light. I can recall a few very uncomfortable rides where I was riding directly into the sun while the sun came up. Terrible torture for a rider.

Kim and I were just watching a video from the south coast of Maine that was posted on thursday morning — rough seas pounding the rocky shore where we usually stay. Most people think sunshine and swimming when they think of the beach. I want the roar and thunder of a heavy sea under a dark sky with the wind blowing salt spray in my eyes. That’s how I know I’m in Maine. I’ve sailed in that and walked in it. I’ll take the walking..
