Excellent video. I think it accurately portrays a daily commute in the boots of the common man. I let all of my subconscious do the whole practical, skill required part of riding. (at least that is what happens when you’ve ridden as long as I have) What usually goes on in my head while riding is, as bobskoot said, problem solving or utter blankness. Although, more often than that I will just have random thoughts, half of which could be considered “shallow”. But come on, if you aren’t shallow to some extent then you’re probably an unattractive male with a bland personality who will settle for the alright looking (after a few beers of course) girl with an even more bland personality than yourself. =)

I couldn’t listen to the entire piece–my stomach began to make noises. I think this serves as a reminder that no matter how much we think the world has become better, smarter, wiser, fools remain and perhaps always will.

He’s missing out on what riding–even in tough, congested traffic–could be about, (e.g., practing skills, chilling out, making intelligent observations–not being a donkey). Too bad he’s not smart enough to keep his ignorance to himself. This says more about him than it does about those he’s derogating.

But this is the ‘net and what’s out there–a mix of good and bad.

Sometimes I think the background talk and noise could be less specific as to one's furry instincts.
The driver is obviously capable; however his furry sexual comments
should be his alone.
Butch dykes like hair on their upper lips, makes them feel more male;
as to the nipple hair, each to their own.

Cool and interesting website. Your photographs are very good. I ‘googled’ state college vespa and came across your site. I just recently purchased my first scooter (Vespa S150) and having a blast. I’m probably the only person with a bright orange vespa in State College. 🙂

I am but no means the master of the video but I have learned to work with my cams and mixing different formats. Some have to be converted, some don't. gets confusing at times. On my last couple I mixed 720p with 1080p and don't notice any difference

you are right about taking a lot of time. On a MAC it is easier I am sure, but on a PC it is hard to playback AVCHD codec. You even have to tweek VLC just to play the clips.

those 6 min videos I posted take about 5 hours to edit, render and upload to YouTube. I am finding that I don't have time for anything and it's becoming a full time job just keeping up

I still have the last segment of my Hawai'i trip to post, there's no time . . .

Conchscooter: I agree about still pictures and still prefer them over video for a lot of uses especially here. I toyed with producing videos early on but abandoned it when I figured out the investment in making them wasn't worth it.

bobskoot: There sure were a lot of scooters and motorcycles in the video and it was kind of cool watching how the rider made his way through town.

Making video takes a lot of time if you are going to do anything but pretty straight record and playback. I toyed with making some videos early and between the time to shoot and the time to edit I just decided to live with stills.

But someday...

I find that there is a time and place for both stills or moving stills. Sometimes you have to experience movement and sounds.

when riding I often problem solve, either that or my mind is blank, no thoughts except whatever senses you require to ride which by now, are automatic. constantly scanning for upcoming problems, obstacles, or aggressive drivers to keep out of harms way.

Perhaps the subject isn't to your liking but I imagine this video was shot in asia somewhere (perhaps Taiwan), and it was nice to see all those scooters parked on the side, the lane-splitting and those Boxes at the intersections for 2-wheeled vehicles. Never having been there I found the sights interesting, just turn down the sound

Aside from the content which is grotesque if taken at face value, or a waste of 3.59 minutes if viewed as feeble comedy, I am reminded why still pictures are best. Peruse a still picture, like it, good, don’t then discard it. Being forced to follow the wobble bores me. I guess I am as shallow as the man on U Tube who can say out loud “Nice figure- for an Asian woman.” Better get used to them and their factory output white boy! And their nipple hair I guess.
